PHINMA’s Ramon del Rosario is global winner of the UNIAPAC Business as a Noble Vocation Award

Last November 24, 2018, in Lisbon, Portugal, PHINMA President and CEO Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr. was presented with the inaugural Business as a Noble Vocation Award at the UNIAPAC World Congress 2018.

UNIAPAC International launched the Business as a Noble Vocation award in order to recognize the dedication of business leaders who see in their work a greater meaning beyond the pursuit of profit – that of empowering the markets they serve. The award underwent a rigorous screening process, with nominations accepted worldwide and four regional finalists announced prior to the final awarding last November 24.

Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr. was selected as the worldwide finalist for his leadership of the PHINMA group of businesses to work in spaces that directly impact the lives of the marginalized, as well as the active role he plays in civil society.

As global awardee, he was asked to share PHINMA’s experience in making lives better through its businesses, including in education and socialized housing. The PHINMA President and CEO highlighted PHINMA Education’s strategies and interventions in providing quality, yet highly affordable education that empowers students to succeed in school and in the workplace. He also spoke of the other leadership roles he has taken on in the drive to serve, among which are his chairmanship of the National Museum; his leadership in the Integrity Initiative, which promotes good governance and integrity in Filipino businesses; and Philippine Business for Education.

In his address, Mr. del Rosario spoke of his gratitude for the opportunity to be of service to his fellow men, saying, “…it has indeed been a deep, deep gladness.” He went on to emphasize that, as with any vocation, the work does not end, telling all his fellow leaders, “there are many more of the world’s deep hungers that must be addressed; this is where God continues to call all of us.”

A nonprofit association headquartered in Paris, France, UNIAPAC, or the International Christian Union of Business Executives, is a federation of associations bringing together Christian business leaders from 38 countries around the world. It was founded in 1931, and since then, has worked to promote the role of business in advancing the common good. Mr. del Rosario was nominated for the award by the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP), a Catholic organization founded in 1980 whose members are committed to living out Christian values and being agents of positive change in the business environment. BCBP became a permanent member of UNIAPAC in 2016.
