PHINMA Education secures Kaizenvest investment to bring affordable quality education to more underserved communities

PHINMA Education is set to reach more underserved students and families across Southeast Asia, coming from a fresh PHP 825-million investment from Kaizenvest, an education-focused private equity fund serving emerging markets in South and Southeast Asia. The returning investor renewed its commitment after seeing strong impact of its earlier investment, completing its share in the May 2024 agreement with KKR and Kaizenvest.

“With this investment, we are ready to open more doors for Southeast Asian students determined to pursue higher education,” said PHINMA Education Chief Strategy Officer Trissa Menardo. “There is still much work ahead and much more to reach, seeing how accessible, quality education can transform lives. With Kaizenvest’s support, we can empower more learners to make their dreams a reality.”

The investment will help drive PHINMA Education’s planned expansion in Roxas City, San Pablo City, Butuan City, and Bacolod City in the Philippines, as well as a new campus in Indonesia. The network currently serves over 163,000 low-income learners across 13 schools in the Philippines and Indonesia.

Apart from expansion in current locations, PHINMA Education is also setting its sights on Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos as potential future markets to bring its unique model of accessible, high-quality education designed for low-income students to more communities in Southeast Asia.

Beyond growing its footprint, PHINMA Education remains focused on ensuring every student’s journey leads to success. The organization is pioneering a coaching model that assigns full-time coaches to partner with students in navigating academic, financial, social, and personal challenges, empowering them to drive their own success.

“We are committed to walking alongside our students—not just in getting them through the door, but in seeing them through the finish line,” Menardo added. “The trust of our partners allows us to nurture this culture of care for our north star: our students. Because when students succeed, entire communities move forward.”
