Meliton B. Salazar, Jr.
Business Head for Education

Chito was, previously, the President and Chief Executive Officer of STI Education Services and held various academic positions including an Associate Professorship at the Asian Institute of Management, as Executive Director of the Washington Sycip Policy Forum, as Consultant with the Institute of Environmental Studies (Netherlands and United Nations), and research assistant to chairs of various academic studies and programs.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering from the Ateneo de Manila University, a Masters degree in International Political Economy and Development from the Fordham University in the Bronx, New York, and a Ph.D. in International Relations majoring in International Development Management from the School of International Service, The American University in Washington, D.C.

Francisco M. Valera
Business Head for Financial Services

Francisco M. Varela was elected President and Chief Operating Officer of AB Capital and Investment Corporation effective January 1, 2006.  Until his election as President, Francis served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of AB Capital. Prior to joining the AB Capital Group in 1993, Francis had a brief stint with the government where he worked as Chief of Staff  to the Secretary of Finance.  Before this he worked at the University of Asia and the Pacific where he was an Economist and taught Mathematics and Economics courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs of the university.

Francis graduated magna cum laude from Xavier University with a degree in BS Mathematics.  He obtained his masters degree in Industrial Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific in 1990.  

Willie Uy
Business Head for Housing

Willie is the President and Chief Executive Officer of PHINMA Property Holdings Corporation, Director of Bacnotan Consolidated Ind., and EVP-General Manager of TO Insurance Brokers. He is also the Vice-Chairman of Rockwell Center Association, and the elected National President of Subdivision & Housing Developers Association, Inc. (SHDA) and Treasurer of SHDA Guaranty Fund, Inc. He is also President of Asian Plaza Inc.

He holds a bachelors degree in Marketing Management from De La Salle University, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business. He also attended the NUS-UCLA Executive Program from the National University of Singapore.

Arthur M. Florendo
Business Head for Steel Roofing

Art is the President and Member of the Board of Directors of Union Galvasteel Corporation. He is a member in the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Iron & Steel Institute; a member in the Board of Directors of Filipino Galvanizers Institute Inc.; and the Chairman of the Technical Committee (Flat Steel Products) of the Bureau of Product Standards, Dept. of Trade and Industry of The Republic of The Philippines.

He graduated with an Accounting Degree from the Far Eastern University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He also took up the Management Development Program at the Asian Institute of Management in 1979. He earned a Masters Degree in Business Economics in 1996, when he completed the Strategic Business Economics Program (SBEP) at the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Francisco L. Viray
Business Head for Energy & Mining


Sonny is President and CEO of Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corporation, Trans-Asia Power Generation, CIP2 Power Corporation and Trans-Asia Gold and Minerals Corporation. He sits as member of the board of Meralco. He served as Secretary of the Department of Energy of the Republic of the Philippines from September 1994 to June 1998. Earlier, he was President of the National Power Corporation from May 1993 to September 1994. He was formerly the Dean of the College of Engineering and Executive Director of the U.P. National Engineering Center.

He holds a doctorate in Philosophy in Engineering from West Virginia University, which he earned in 1982. He obtained both his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1973 and his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1970 from the University of the Philippines. He served as Secretary of the Department of Energy of the Republic of the Philippines from 1994 to 1998.

Rogelio G. Salazar, Jr.
Business Head for Business Process Outsourcing 

Roger is in charge of developing the Business Process Outsourcing Services of the PHINMA Group.  

Roger served as Vice President and Asst to the Chairman and CEO from 1999 to 2001. He left PHINMA to join Marsman Drysdale Corporation as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO and Vice President for Business Development.  He was also appointed the following positions in the various companies of Marsman Drysdale Group: President and CEO; MD Foods Corporation, President, MD Agribuisness Group; Officer-in-Charge, Globalstride Corporation. At Marsman Drysdale, Roger served in the Board of Sky Vision Corporation, Capital One Holdings Corporation, PT&T Wireless and Wireless Ventures Pte. Ltd.

Roger obtained his Masters degree in Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1990.  He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Bachelor of Arts, Major in Economics.

Jose Mari R. del Rosario
Business Head for Hospitality & Property Management

Mari is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Microtel Inns & Suites (Pilipinas) Inc. 

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from De La Salle University in 1979. He has a diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Hotelconsult Schulhotels Valais, Switzerland in 1985. He also attended the Professional Development Program in Cornell University in 1990; and the General Managers Program of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in 1995. He also has a Masters of Science in Management from the Arthur D. Little School of Management Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1997.

He was the former Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Manila Hotel in The Philippines.
