At the Board’s organizational meeting, incumbent Chairman, RICARDO J. ROMULO decided to retire as Chairman of the MBC after 19 years of service and personally nominated RAMON R. DEL ROSARIO, JR., who was elected Chairman for 2006-2007. Atty. Romulo remains as a Trustee and has been appointed by the Board to Chair the newly-created Council of Advisors. Also, re-elected Co-Vice Chairmen were JAIME AUGUSTO ZOBEL DE AYALA and ROBERTO F. DE OCAMPO and CORAZON S. DE LA PAZ as Treasurer. Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr. is the President and CEO of Philippine Investment Management, (PHINMA), Inc. and Chairman of the PHINMA Education Network. Mr. Del Rosario served as the Philippines’ Secretary of Finance under President Fidel V. Ramos from 1992-1993. He is also Chairman of the Philippines-U.S. Business Council and the Coalition Against Corruption, and member of the boards of trustees of the Asian Institute of Management, Philippine Business for Social Progress, and the Children’s Hour. He is founding trustee of the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd). Ramon R. del Rosario, Jr. is also the President and Vice-Chairman of Bacnotan Consolidated Industries, Inc., two affiliated companies with investments in housing, education, energy, and financial services. He is also Chairman of the PHINMA Education Network, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AB Capital and Investment Corporation and serves on the Boards of Directors of Ayala Land, Inc., Holcim Philippines, Roxas Holdings, Inc., Bacnotan Consolidated Industries, and Trans Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp., which are listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, and Nasdaq-listed PSi Technologies, Inc. Mr. Del Rosario served as the Philippines’ Secretary of Finance under President Fidel V. Ramos from 1992 to 1993. Mr. Del Rosario is a graduate of Harvard Business School. He graduated from De La Salle University, Manila with an AB-BSC degree, magna cum laude. He was valedictorian of his high-school and elementary school classes at De La Salle. He is the recipient of the 2005 Benigno Aquino, Jr. Award for Natrionalism, and the 2005 Distinguished Lasallian Award. He was the 1978 Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) awardee in the field of Investment Banking and Finance and was selected as the Most Outstanding Student of the Philippines in 1967. He is currently Co-Chairman of the National Mission Council of De La Salle Philippines, Inc., the policy setting body for all De La Salle schools in the Philippines. He is Chairman of the Makati Business Club and Philippine Business for Education (PBEd). He is also Chairman of the Philippines-U.S. Business Council and the Philippine Educational Theater Association and member of the boards of trustees of the Asian Institute of Management, Caritas Manila, Philippine Business for Social Progress, and The Children’s Hour. The Makati Business Club, now celebrating its 25th Anniversary, is a private non-stock, non-profit business organization organized as a Forum for Constructive Ideas. Founded in 1981, the MBC is composed of senior business executives representing the largest and most dynamic corporations in the Philippines. The MBC has become one of the leading private fora for meetings, which bring together business, government, and community leaders in the country. It has conducted over 300 policy briefings over the last 25 years. In the recently concluded 2006 MBC Board of Trustees elections, Buenaventura, Echauz Managing Partner CESAR A. BUENAVENTURA, Philamlife President JOSE L. CUISIA, JR., AIM Trustee ROBERTO F. DE OCAMPO, and Romulo-Mabanta Senior Partner RICARDO J. ROMULO were all re-elected to two-year terms tenure to 2008. Magsaysay Maritime Corporation Chairperson DORIS MAGSAYSAY-HO was also elected to the Board for the first time. The other Trustees, all elected last year, with terms to mid-2007 are SGV Chairman DAVID L. BALANGUE, Equitable PCIBank Chairperson CORAZON S. DE LA PAZ, PHINMA President RAMON R. DEL ROSARIO, JR., BPI President AURELIO R. MONTINOLA III, UA&P Senior Vice President BERNARDO M. VILLEGAS, and Ayala Corporation Chairman JAIME AUGUSTO ZOBEL DE AYALA. |
